The problem is not that He does not love us enough, but that we do not trust Him enough that He loves us.  We think He is too busy, or we are too unimportant.  But to Him we are important.

Think of the fullest measure of love you have ever felt for something or someone—a pet, a child, a parent.  Now realize that that is not even close to the love that God has for you—you cannot comprehend how much He loves you.

Don’t worry about it, just accept it.  Don’t ask “why” He loves you or “how” He loves you.  Don’t think it your business to remind Him of every bad or good thing you have ever done—He already knows them.

All you have to do is to look at Him like a child, accepting His love, not questioning it, not trying to earn it, not denying it for the sake of “humility”—false or otherwise.  There is a time and a place for  you to recognize your sin.  It is good to recognize your sin.  But we always take it one step farther, don’t we?  All God wants us to do is to confess our sins, to turn away from them, then move on.  But we always feel that we must punish ourselves, and the best way to do that is to allow ourselves to wallow in the mire of “God can’t love me, I am too bad”.

Ephesians 3:16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; 17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; 19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. 20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, 21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen. (KJV)
